West Virginia Marriage Counseling:
There is no mandatory divorce counseling in West Virginia.
West Virginia Parenting Class:
When a divorce involves a minor child, the court orders the parents to an education class, so they understand the effects of divorce and custody disputes on children. This is required in an effort to reduce the trauma to the child. The session is mandatory for divorcing parents. Parent education may be waived if the court finds that attendance is not necessary.
