My husband has offered me some money :confused:and the fact that he paid off the car I drive (in both of our names) when he refianced his house, as settlement. In turn I don't try for the house ( I signed disclaimer) his business or any other thing. Do you think this is a good idea or should I fight it?

---> Hard to say.

---> How much cash is he offering? How much is your car worth? How much was the marital equity in the home? How much is the marital equity in his business worth? And speak of his business, would effect would an adversarial divorce have on it? Not a good thing to kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

But dollars and cents aside...do YOU think it's fair?

He is offering ten thousand cash, the car is paid off and it was a payoff of $12,000. The house is in his name only and he just refi on it last Oct. The business is half his and half his brothers, they paid $48,000 for it and are still paying for it. I don't want to ruin his business, and I don't want it. As for me, I can't decide if its fair. It would really help me thru alot of things

Just because the house is in his name only, doesn't mean that you aren't entitled to at least the increase in the equity since you were married.

What is is the business worth now?
