With regard to a divorce case in which one party filed how is it handeled when that person changes their mind? Does the other person have the option to continue the process? Or once the initial person cancels does the other person have to refile in order to continue on with the process?

If the other party, the respondent, wants to continue the case after it's been cancelled, they would have to file on their own, I think. I suppose it depends on the specific cancellation provisions. Sometimes, the respondent can keep the case active by filing a response and/or other motions, requests for hearings, etc., but generally, the petitioner is responsible for keeping the case moving forward.

If enough time passes without any action on the case, it's made "inactive" and it would have to be refiled.
