I live in PA, where property is divided "equally". I have retirement. I have been contributing for ten years. I was married for six years before we separated. My question is, how is the retirment divided. I know it can only be separated for the six years that we were married. What I need to know is, is the total amount of the six years that was accrued then divided in half? Or is it the interest of the retirement (for the six years) split in half? My retirement is a profit shared contribution (stocks). It loses and gains with the market. If anyone can help, I appreciate it. Thanks.

If the account was at say $5,000 when ya'll got married and is now $17,000, ya'll would ONLY divide the $12,000 that was "accrued" during marriage.
