My fiance' was married in TN. However, he has been a GA resident for 6 years. He says his Lawyer said that if his wife does not sign the divorce papers he will have to go court in TN. The papers were done in GA. I thought he could go in GA and if his wife didn't show up they could grant the divorce. What is correct - you can go where you are a resident or you have to go to court in the state you were married in.

Call an attorney and you may get some free legal advice and/or a free consultation.

My advice, call three...if the answer's the same, it's probably correct (my theory of asking questions of government employees!).
