I am embarking on this sad journey after 28 years of marriage. I understand that in the state of MD one needs to be separated continuously for one year before divorce is granted. I have also read that other states allow both parties to stay in the marital home while awiating for the final divorce. Does anyone know if this is an arrangement that might be acceptable in MD, i.e share the same house but lead a completely separate life for 12 months? Thanks for replies.

Google "Maryland Family Law" and you should find some information that is useful to you. I believe you need to be physically separated and not engage in s/i for 1 yr before you can begin divorce proceedings.
