About half of my income is schedule C. My spousal support order will be based on a fixed monthly amount plus a percentage of this schedule C income. The order directs that the spousal support is tax deductible for me and taxable for my ex.

Will the portion of my spousal support that is based on the schedule C income be subject to self-employment tax?

It shouldn't be, but only a tax accountant could tell you for sure.

SE Tax will be calculated normally. The fact that a % is applied to calculate how much you will pay in alimony is irrelevant. The alimony will not be a deductible expense on your Schedule C.
