If a respondent has no legal counsel and opts for mediation initially, and if at a later date they are able to obtain a legal counsel prior to the finalization of the divorce, can that lawyer then assume the case or must it remain in mediation once opted for?

Did the mediation take place? Was an agreement reached? A party has a right to representation at any time.

No, respondent hasn't yet responded to the initial divorce petition. That answers my question though. Thank you.
