Psychological testing is yet another tool that may be used in cases of disputed custody to help a judge determine the best interest of the child, particularly when a child appears to be disturbed.
When it is done, psychological testing is usually conducted by court-appointed child psychologists. The tests may be used in conjunction with a larger evaluation of the child’s parents, friends and teachers.
A child caught in the crossfire of two battling parents can be torn to pieces because he or she is trying to love both parents equally. Psychological testing can lend a judge greater competence in determining where lies his or her best interest.
