Term Definition Shared Custody - custody shared by divorced parents.
Application in Divorce A form of residence that is alternately habituated by the child.

In this form of child custody, visitation, as the term is normally understood, does not exist.

Not all divorced families can use coequal custody because it requires exacting cooperation between formerly married spouses. Some courts are not open to this arrangement because it requires frequent moves by the minor child between two divorced parents.
